Weave your own (paracord)
A simple cobra-stitch (Solomon bar) woggle: the same knot used for paracord bracelets, just tied around a ring or dowel instead of a wrist.
You'll need
- About 8-10 feet of paracord
- A wooden dowel or curtain ring, about 1 inch across, to shape the woggle around
- Scissors and a lighter (adult-supervised) to melt and seal the cord ends
Steps
- Fold the paracord in half around the dowel or ring so both ends hang even.
- Bring the left strand over the front of both center strands, then behind the right strand.
- Bring the right strand over the left strand's tail, behind the two center strands, and up through the loop the left strand made.
- Pull both strands snug, that's one cobra stitch.
- Repeat, alternating which side starts each stitch, working down the dowel until you've covered the length you want for the woggle.
- Slide the woven tube off the dowel, trim the ends close, and melt them briefly with a lighter to seal (an adult should handle this step).
